HEADING TO MELBOURNE?

If you're attending the Rotary Convention, be sure to visit us in the House of Friendship. Peggy Carlaw, ShelterBox New Zealand Director and Trustee, will be there from noon to 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday and would love to say kia ora, show you around the ShelterBox display and answer questions about our Rotary partnership.

CURRENT RESPONSES

Our work continues in Ukraine to provide winterisation and hygiene kits to people in the areas around Kiev. We’ve had to temporarily halt our work providing shelter solutions in more remote areas due to ongoing conflict.

As to the February earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, we’re working closely with our Rotary partners in Tükiye, both at the

district and club levels. Thanks to a Rotarian's connection with Turkish Airlines, we flew in 528 tents immediately after the earthquakes from our warehouse in Panama free of charge. We are currently distributing more tents and essential household items so

people can set up temporary homes.

In one part of Türkiye, we’re training Rotarians to set up 2,000 tents and show people how to use the equipment. In another area, Rotarians are providing a different shelter solution and we’re providing household items.

What a great example of our partnership in action!

In addition to our ongoing work in Syria supporting people displaced by the war there, we also have two

projects helping earthquake victims. One project is in Idlib consisting of warm jackets,

blankets and mattresses for people living in collection centres, and the other is in Aleppo providing tents and household items.

ARE YOU A SHELTERBOX CHAMPION?

We can’t do the important work we do without the support of Rotary Clubs. Even though we’re official project partners of Rotary International, we aren’t eligible for global grants. So we want to extend a massive thank you to those clubs who can provide support for our work. You can learn more about the Champion Club program here.

If you haven't yet donated this Rotary year, you can send your donation to 03-1749- 0416598-00. Please donate ASAP. People are counting on your support as they struggle to get back on their feet.
