A job vacancy exists in the youth area for a dedicated Rotarian.
Rotary Australia, New Zealand Student Exchange needs a Deputy Chair.
The Rotarian needed should live in our northern region around Hamilton/Rotorua.
This youth exchange is sometimes called the "matched twin exchange" The committee administers the programme of matched exchanges with secondary school students from our District, between the ages of 13 1/2 and 16 years on 1 January of the participating year, and compatible Australian students.
One student travels to the other country in late March / early April, living with his/her match and their family, attending school, and returning with their match 12 weeks later in June for a 12-week reciprocal visit ending in September.
Duties include
- Sending emails to Schools, Rotarians and Clubs asking for applicants.
- Collating and evaluating applications.
- Interviewing Students and Parents.
- Arranging Police Checks.
- Ordering Uniforms.
- Approaching clubs for mentoring and sponsorship.
- Liaising with Australian Chairs and students.
- Meeting with Australian counterparts (overseas trips).
- Assisting students at Orientation Day, Ruruku (meeting) Weekend and the 7-day Safari.
