Last Sunday the new Waka (of which we were a major donor) was blessed and launched in Pilot Bay.

The blessing was carried out by Jack Thatcher who is a master celestial navigator who has logged over 35000km of Waka voyaging around the Pacific.

The name of the canoe is Tuhua which is the Maori name for Mayor Island.

All the Club's canoes are named after local islands.

To enable anyone who would like to paddle the new canoe there is going to be a sponsor’s morning on Saturday 2nd of December at 9 am. This will be at Pilot Bay Mt Maunganui near the toilets in the middle of the Bay. We need to have it early to ensure car parking. Christa and Rod represented our club at the blessing.
