Rotary Club: Cambridge
Year: 2025-26
Location: Fencourt Road, Cambridge
District grant (DG) amount: $2,900*
Total cost of project: $5,800
Purpose of project: To install an A.E.D.

Background

Kids in Need Waikato is a charity that provides personalised care packs for children who are being raised by someone other than their biological parents, and support to their caregivers. It was the charity of choice for Bill Robinson (RC Cambridge) in his DG year.

Objectives

Staff in the Cambridge office had completed their First Aid courses and requested that an A.E.D. (Automated External Defibrillator) be installed on the outside of their premises to allow the community access.

Funding

The DG request was initially for one A.E.D. but with DG requests to District undersubscribed the club was approached to see if there was scope to expand the project. There was and a second A.E.D. was purchased.

Planning and implementation

The second A.E.D. was installed outside the town’s MENZSHED on Lamb Street, Leamington.

While ownership of the A.E.D.s now sits with the two benefiting organisations the maintenance of them is undertaken by Heartsafe Cambridge inc.
