Our mission is to be an engaged, action orientated, vibrant cub with passionate members that shine and have fun!
Who We Are?
An enthusiastic collection of bright young things (some younger than others) who work together and with a large number of local and national organisations and charities with the sole aim of making Rotorua and the rest of the world a better place to live.
What We Do and Why?
Very often we are the ‘silent’ helping hands behind a calendar of high profile events, members donating their time and expertise to raising funds, being extra pairs of hands, coordinating events, contributing to educational and self-development events and generally being great people.
What are our Signature Projects?
Rotorua Sunrise have a number of key projects including the Rotorua Charity House in conjunction with Waiariki Institute of Technology, and the Oral Language Programme at Western Heights Primary School.
Every year we raise funds through events such as the End Polio Now Swimarathon, the annual Rotorua Lakeside Concert, and a Speaker Series (featuring local and global leaders such and Helen Clarke).
We contribute to international service including a recent visit by members to Taveuni (Fiji Islands), and sponsoring the School of St Jude (Tanzania). We contribute to youth development through Rotary International Youth Exchange, RANZSE (Matched Twin Exchange to Australia), RYLA, RYPEN and Outward Bound scholarships. We also support our local community with grants for things they desperately need.
How can you get involved?
It can be as simple as a few hours volunteering or attending an event. If you would like to be involved in any of our youth projects, community projects or many international projects get in touch.
We would love to hear from you! Join us for breakfast on most Tuesday mornings at 6:45am. You'll find us on Facebook or through our website. Or drop us an email.
