On 19 February 1924 the Rotary Club of Hamilton was chartered. We recently changed our name to the Hamilton Central Rotary Club. Our club is the foundation club for the present district 9930.
When the JR McKenzie Trust was established in 1940, provision was made for the five oldest Rotary Clubs in New Zealand to each contribute a member to the Board – our Club is privileged to have been involved since then. The JR McKenzie Trust is a philanthropic family trust, offering funding nationwide to many projects – currently focusing on Maori Development, Disadvantaged Children and their Families, and Social Justice.
Our club’s key fundraisers over the years have been our Golf Day which raises funds for various youth projects throughout the district and the Chefs Night Out which donates a large portion to Hospice Waikato.
The club continues to support Youth projects and is particularly proud of its yearly Prefects Lunch which honours the head students of all of the schools in the Hamilton area.
At the Hamilton Central Rotary Club, we connect with like-minded people, doing things for others. Our fundamental values flow from Rotary International where our purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
