Kura Kai at Tarawera High School ---

This was a real buzz as the team produced 36 containers of Macaroni Cheese for freezing for emergency food supplies for THS families.

There were 8 Rotarians and 6 THS students (Interactors) plus Raewyn Morgan from THS, and we had full use of the Hospitality Kitchen. The cheese sauce was made the properly with a Roux Sauce in vast quantities, onions were chopped up by a tearful Dennis and others, bacon and onions fried, large pots of macaroni boiled, grated cheese and breadcrumbs came ready to use ---

And then it was all combined into tasty dinners in foil containers with suitably labelled tops. It was such fun and everyone was cheerful and willing. And all are looking forward to a repeat performance with the Year 9s and mince dinners during “block week” at the end of June.

It was heart-warming to hear that the first meals (that were donated with the freezer) have already been dispensed to a THS family going through a crisis.
