Last week, Save the Kiwi sent a plea for funds to produce more ‘kiwi live here’ signs, to be erected in places where kiwi live around the country.
This was in response to a spate of recent kiwi deaths by dogs in Northland.
We are so excited to share that we have just surpassed our target of $5,000. One incredible individual even donated $1,000!
But wait, there’s more!
Our generous sponsor Crombie Lockwood saw this appeal and the subsequent support of so many New Zealanders and decided to match donations up to $5,000.
This means – together – we have raised almost $11,000 to create ‘kiwi live here’ signs to distribute to kiwi conservation projects all over New Zealand.
Erecting more ‘kiwi live here’ signs is just one way we can make it easier for dog owners to understand where kiwi live and where their dogs shouldn’t go, creating safer habitat for kiwi while keeping their dogs safe too
