Did you know that in, for example, Kiribati 1 in 16 children does not reach their 5th birthday? Often dying from vaccine-preventable diseases. We can change that. The Rotary Give Every Child a Future (RGECAF) project is the only R100 Down Under centenary project covering all of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. The project aims to vaccinate 100,000 children against three diseases, over three years, in nine Pacific Island countries. And, with governments committing to fund the vaccine programmes on completion of the project, Rotary Give Every Child a Future will continue saving lives across the Pacific for generations to come.

To do this, Rotary has once again, partnered with UNICEF. Rotary’s primary role in Rotary Give Every Child a Future is to raise funds ($4.5 million) and awareness for the project, while UNICEF is responsible for delivering the vaccine programmes in each country.

Project planning is led by UNICEF and the four founding clubs of Rotary Australasia; Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington. While it will be funded through a series of global grants, 27 in fact, one for each country for each year, it cannot succeed without support from clubs across the entire region. Rotary Give Every Child a Future gives every Rotary clubs the opportunity to really make a difference ‘in our own backyard’, to save the lives of children and mothers in the South-West Pacific.
This project provides every club with the opportunity to demonstrate to their communities the power of Rotary in the 21st century; how, when like-minded and determined people come together, they can achieve amazing things.
