'Cyclone Idai Creates Devastating Floods in Malawi'
When Cyclone Idai tore through southern Africa in March, it separated parents and children, ripped up homes and destroyed livelihoods.
One month on, thousands of families are still homeless and afraid. They urgently need our help.

The devastation caused by Cyclone Idai is unimaginable. Families have been left with nothing and the situation is getting worse.
Our ShelterBox team on the ground in Malawi are doing everything they can to find a way through the rising water levels.
Your support enables us to help those vulnerable families all around the world to get the vital emergency shelter they need. Please donate today, THANK YOU!.

DISTRIBUTION OF AID'

When Falmata and her children were forced to flee their home in Nigeria, they found refuge at a camp in Cameroon, but Falmata's children often suffered with malaria. Despite her efforts to protect her children, Falmata explained, 'with toilets not far away from our shelters, we always have mosquitoes - we almost live with them.'
When the family received our ShelterBox mosquito nets, it was an indescribable relief. Falmata was 'full of joy' as it meant they would be protected when they slept. Your support transforms lives of families like Falmata's everyday!

AT LEAST 1 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FORCED FROM THEIR HOMES AFTER FLOODING HIT MALAWI

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the Cyclone Idai appeal so far.

Over the weekend, our aid for families affected by Cyclone Idai landed in Lilongwe, Malawi. As part of the Logistics Cluster, we are coordinating with World Food Programme Malawi to transport the items to flood-affected communities.

Everyday we are hearing new stories from families who have been affected by the devastating flooding in Malawi. Thanks to your incredible support, aid is now on the ground and on its way to those families who really need it. Your support makes all this possible.

                   'RESPONSE TEAM MEMBERS'

When disaster strikes, ShelterBox Response Teams play a crucial role in helping vulnerable families recover.
Following a natural disaster or conflict, our Response Team Volunteers leave their own families to travel around the world and deliver shelter, tools and other essential items to the families who need them most.
The conditions can be very challenging. It can be physically and mentally demanding. Becoming a response team member is a huge responsibility, but it can also be incredibly rewarding.

                  'CYCLONE IDAI APPEAL'

Right now, we are talking to local partners in all the countries affected by Cyclone Idai to understand how we might be able to help. As Rotary International's project partner for disaster relief, we’re in close contact with the District Governor for Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

We're also working with Habitat for Humanity, who are talking to affected families in Malawi.

Your Donation can make a difference, Thank You!

'RUNNING FOR GOOD!'

When eight year old Olivia first heard about Cyclone Idai, she felt inspired to do something to help families who have lost so much. So Olivia set out to run a mile a day over five days with the aim of raising $500. Five runs later, Olivia smashed her initial target and donated an incredible $2,600 - what a star!

Thank you so much Olivia - you are an inspiration

Did you know that 90% of all natural disasters are water related? The extreme flooding caused by Cyclone Idai has put thousands of families at risk across southern Africa. Watch to see how our water filters and mosquito nets help.
