September is  Education and Literacy Month
One of the seven areas of focus for Rotary is supporting Education.  September allows us all to focus on this very important area.
Rotary has always been proud to support many activities and training to improve education for all children and literacy for children and adults both within our communities and abroad.
You only need to look at the many projects District 9930 Clubs are or have been involved in to see that Education and Literacy are important to Rotarians.
Without basic Education and Literacy, many communities would suffer.  Rotarians around the World continue to support programs that provide basic education and literacy to all, increase adult literacy in communities, assist to reduce gender inequalities in education, and support studies for individuals who desire to promote literacy and education.
It is important for Rotary to continue to draw on their wonderful support in the area of Education and Literacy, to ensure all children have access to basic knowledge for their future development.  We need to recognise that in New Zealand we are privileged as most of our communities are able to access basic Education leading to high levels of Literacy but not all countries are as fortunate.
For September remember to look at your Club and see what projects you can support both locally and internationally to give the gift of Education and Literacy to all.
